
On June 29, 2026, Heathrow and Gatwick airports experienced significant flight disruptions caused by severe thunderstorms across the UK. More than 900 flights were either delayed or cancelled at the two airports combined, impacting numerous schedules throughout the day.
These disruptions left approximately 40,000 passengers stranded as they faced extended delays and cancellations amidst the stormy weather. The situation resulted in considerable challenges for both travellers and airport operations, with long waits reported in terminals.
