Ryanair will base two aircraft at Rimini Airport, also known as Federico Fellini Airport, starting with the summer 2027 season, according to an announcement made during the TTG travel fair in Rimini on October 15, 2026. The airline is adding five new routes from the airport, marking a major expansion for the Italian Riviera gateway.

Expanded Route Network and Flight Capacity

The five new non-stop destinations from Rimini include Dublin in Ireland, Memmingen in Germany, Stockholm in Sweden, Tirana in Albania, and Warsaw in Poland. These new additions will bring Ryanair’s total route offerings at Rimini to 17. The airline plans to operate 114 weekly flights

from Rimini in summer 2027, providing more than 600,000 seats. This schedule represents twice the number of flights compared to 2025 levels, significantly increasing connectivity from the region.

Investment and Employment Impact

Ryanair has invested 200 million US dollars into establishing its Rimini base. The airline states the base currently supports over 500 local jobs, including pilots and cabin crew who will be stationed in the area. Having aircraft and crew based at Rimini means more operational stability and flexibility, enabling better service frequency and route development.

Impact of Emilia-Romagna’s Tax Policy

The airline credits the Emilia-Romagna region’s abolition of the municipal air passenger tax for reducing its operational

costs, which facilitated route expansion at Rimini and other regional airports. Ryanair has added nine new routes across Emilia-Romagna’s airports, serving more than 700,000 passengers annually. The company has called on the Italian government to abolish this tax nationwide, asserting that removing it would allow it to add 40 aircraft and 250 routes across Italy.

Traveler Benefits and Ticket Sale

Starting in late March 2027, travelers from Rimini will have new nonstop options to Ireland, Germany, Sweden, Albania, and Poland. Ryanair has launched a limited-time seat sale with fares beginning at 29.99 euros to celebrate the base expansion. The sale fares are subject to availability

without specified route or date restrictions, and the full schedules and start dates for each route will be published ahead of the summer 2027 season launch.

Official Statements and Regional Impact

Michele de Pascale, president of Emilia-Romagna, said the new Ryanair services will enhance international access to the region, sustain local employment, and strengthen Rimini’s position as a gateway to the Riviera. Ryanair emphasized that the tax abolition in Emilia-Romagna was critical to the regional expansion and urged the national government to follow suit to improve air connectivity across Italy.
