Norwegian Cruise Line opened bookings on October 20, 2026, for Norwegian Bella, its sixth and final Prima-class vessel. The ship, measuring approximately 1,129 feet in length and weighing 170,000 gross tons, will accommodate 3,921 guests at double occupancy. Norwegian Bella’s inaugural Mediterranean season begins in May 2028.
Mediterranean Itineraries and Home Port
Norwegian Bella will operate 7-night round-trip cruises from the Port of Barcelona, Spain, calling at seven Mediterranean destinations. Scheduled ports include Civitavecchia, the gateway to Rome; Livorno, serving Florence and Pisa; Salerno, providing access to the Amalfi Coast; Marseille, France; and Palma de Mallorca in the Balearic Islands. Barcelona serves as the ship’s
homeport, the busiest cruise port in Europe, which handled nearly 3.7 million cruise passengers in 2024.
Design and Construction
The ship was constructed by the Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri at its domestic yards. Interior design credits feature collaborations with AD Associates, Piero Lissoni, Rockwell Group, SMC Design, and Studio Dado. Australian contemporary artist George Rose created the ship’s exterior hull artwork, continuing NCL’s tradition of partnering with renowned artists for signature vessel designs.
Enhanced Outdoor Spaces and Onboard Features
Norwegian Bella offers a pool deck area at least 15% larger than its sister ships, Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna. The vessel includes Ocean Heights, a multi-level open-air area spanning decks
18 to 21, designed for both daytime activities and nighttime social events. Ocean Boulevard, a wrap-around promenade on deck 8, features expanded seating, hot tubs, an outdoor bar, and Infinity Beach pools and daybeds.
Luxury Suites and Booking Details
The ship houses 159 suites within The Haven by Norwegian, a high-end, ship-within-a-ship product that provides private access, dedicated pool deck, restaurant, bar, concierge, and 24-hour butler services. NCL offers an 18-month booking window for the best availability on these suites. No specific pricing or starting fares were disclosed at the time of booking launch.
As the ship is homeported in Barcelona rather than a U.S.
port, American passengers should budget separately for transatlantic flights to and from Barcelona El Prat Airport (BCN).
Official Statements and Fleet Context
Marc Kazlauskas, president of Norwegian Cruise Line, described Norwegian Bella as “the culmination of our award-winning Prima Class,” emphasizing enhanced outdoor spaces and elevated guest experiences based on traveler feedback. Norwegian Bella and Norwegian Aura, scheduled for delivery in May 2027, represent the two largest ships in NCL’s fleet at 1,129 feet and 170,000 GT each.
Industry Context and Operational Considerations
Norwegian Bella’s deployment from Barcelona aligns with Norwegian Cruise Line’s strategy to expand its European offerings. The Port of Barcelona, managing overtourism by reducing cruise terminals starting
in 2025, will host the vessel’s itineraries. The Prima-class series began in 2022, with no announced successor class as of October 2026. The ship’s gross tonnage is smaller compared to other industry vessels such as Royal Caribbean’s Icon-class ships at 250,800 GT.
