Carnival Cruise Line will introduce dynamic pricing for onboard drink and Wi-Fi packages beginning December 1, 2026. Prices will vary according to cruise length, itinerary, and seasonal demand.
Dynamic pricing will apply to these packages whether purchased separately or within bundled FunPacks. FunPacks offer passengers mixed onboard extras at discounted prices ranging from $25 to $99 per person per day. These bundles include drink and Wi-Fi packages, excursion discounts, specialty dining, and spa treatment offers. FunPacks are available for booking through October 30, 2026, for sailings departing between October 31, 2026, and December 31, 2027.
Passenger Concerns and Pricing Guarantees
This pricing change means passengers
aboard the same sailing may pay different amounts for identical drink and Wi-Fi packages depending on timing and itinerary. Cruise influencer Tony Barnette expressed worries about inconsistent pricing on the same voyage. He asked whether individuals who purchase packages on the same sailing could be charged differently.
Carnival has stated that once a package is bought, the price is locked in and will not change even if dynamic prices fluctuate later during booking periods.
Background and Rationale for Dynamic Pricing
Dynamic pricing adjusts prices in real time based on supply and demand factors like itinerary and season, a method widely used by airlines, hotels, and ride-sharing
companies. Carnival said this approach better aligns prices with the type of cruise booked and seasonal demand patterns. Current flat-rate drink packages range from $6.95 to $124 per day, while internet plans cost between $20.40 and $25.50 per person per day.
2027 Cruise Market Outlook
AAA projects a record 22.4 million U.S. residents will take domestic and international ocean cruises in 2027. This anticipated growth reflects cruising’s appeal due to convenience, value, and variety. Travelers budgeting their 2027 cruise may need to factor in dynamic pricing variability for drink and Wi-Fi packages as Carnival rolls out these changes.
