Norwegian Cruise Line began accepting reservations on October 20, 2026, for Norwegian Bella, the final ship in its Prima-class series. The vessel measures 170,000 gross tons and spans 1,129 feet in length. Norwegian Bella will start operations in May 2028.

Itineraries from Port of Barcelona

Norwegian Bella will offer seven-night round-trip cruises from the Port of Barcelona, Spain, known as one of Europe’s busiest cruise home ports with nearly 3.7 million passengers in 2024. Ports of call on the Mediterranean itinerary include Civitavecchia, which serves as the gateway to Rome, Livorno for Florence and Pisa, Salerno near the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii, Marseille in France,

and Palma de Mallorca in the Balearic Islands.

Capacity and Fleet Position

The ship will accommodate 3,921 guests at double occupancy, tying with Norwegian Aura as the largest in the NCL fleet. Norwegian Bella will operate in European waters, while Norwegian Aura, delivered in May 2027, will service Caribbean routes. Both ships are constructed by the Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri.

Expanded Outdoor Spaces and Ocean Heights Complex

Responding to guest feedback on limited outdoor areas in earlier Prima ships, Norwegian Bella features a pool deck that is 15% larger than those of Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna. The ship introduces Ocean Heights, a multi-level open-air complex across decks 18 through 21, designed

as a sunlit activity zone by day and a social hub with LED lighting by night. Additionally, Ocean Boulevard, a wrap-around promenade on Deck 8, offers exterior access along the ship’s full length with new seating, hot tubs, and an outdoor bar.

Design and Artwork

The interior design of Norwegian Bella involves multiple studios including AD Associates, Piero Lissoni, Rockwell Group, SMC Design, and Studio Dado. The ship maintains NCL’s tradition of commissioning original hull art with a vibrant botanical design by Australian contemporary artist George Rose.

The Haven Suites and Booking Considerations

Norwegian Bella offers 159 suites within The Haven by Norwegian, a ship-within-a-ship luxury area featuring private

amenities such as a pool deck, dedicated restaurant and bar, concierge and butler services, and priority boarding. Early booking is recommended for these suites due to strong demand. As of the October 2026 booking launch, no onboard credit offers, deposit requirements, or early-booking promotions were announced.

Implications of European Home Port

Since Norwegian Bella operates from the European Port of Barcelona, travelers, especially from the United States, should anticipate additional costs for round-trip flights to Barcelona El Prat Airport (BCN). These airfare expenses can add several hundred dollars per person depending on airline choice, booking timing, and travel dates.

Prima-Class Fleet Expansion and Closing

Norwegian Bella completes the six-ship Prima-class

fleet expansion that began with Norwegian Prima in 2022. The vessel incorporates expanded outdoor spaces and curated onboard experiences shaped by passenger feedback on earlier ships.

Official Commentary and Booking Information

Marc Kazlauskas, President of Norwegian Cruise Line, described Norwegian Bella as “the culmination of our award-winning Prima Class.” He emphasized that the ship integrates guest-preferred features and innovations for flexible vacation experiences. Norwegian Bella can be booked exclusively through NCL’s website at ncl.com.

No promotional fares or credit incentives were announced at the booking opening, underscoring the need for early reservation, particularly for The Haven suites.
