The Black Travel Summit 2027 will be hosted in Cotonou, Benin, marking the first time the event takes place on the African continent. The announcement was made at the Black Travel Awards Gala in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on 17 October 2026.

Founded in the United States by Anita Moreau in 2019, the Black Travel Summit was previously held in Rio de Janeiro in 2025 and Milwaukee in 2026. The decision to host in Benin followed discussions during the 2025 Rio de Janeiro event.

Benin Tourism partnered with summit organizers for the 2027 event, which aims to strengthen connections between Africa and

the global diaspora. The summit seeks to create opportunities for cross-border partnerships and market development, supporting international exchange and business collaboration within the global Black travel community.

Research from Black Travel Alliance and MMGY Travel Intelligence found that Black American leisure travelers took 184.12 million trips in 2023, spending an estimated US$145 billion. This underscores the significance of this travel segment within the industry.

Information on exact dates, program details, and participation for the 2027 summit will be released on the official Black Travel Summit and Benin Tourism websites. The event will focus on promoting diversity and inclusion in the

international travel industry.
