Virgin Voyages has cancelled Brilliant Lady’s Halloween cruise scheduled from Los Angeles for October 30 to November 6, 2027, after securing a private charter for the vessel. The cancelled itinerary included stops at San Diego, Ensenada, and Cabo San Lucas.

Virgin Voyages is also adjusting the subsequent seven-night Mexican Riviera cruise departing November 6, 2027, by splitting it into two shorter voyages. These replacement cruises include a four-night sailing calling at Catalina Island and Ensenada, and a three-night sailing visiting Ensenada only. The original itinerary featured San Diego and an overnight in Cabo San Lucas, returning to Los Angeles on

November 13, 2027.

The cruise line directly notified passengers booked on the cancelled Halloween cruise and the revised November 6 Mexican Riviera cruise. Passengers of the Halloween sailing may transfer to any seven-night Los Angeles-based voyage from September 18 to November 13, 2027, with their original fare and promotions preserved, plus receive $100 onboard credit. They may also opt for a full refund. Those on the divided November 6 sailing can change to either the new three- or four-night cruises with applied payments and a $100 onboard credit. At announcement, the Halloween cruise remained visible online but bookings were blocked.

Virgin Voyages prioritizes private charters because they provide guaranteed full ship revenue by purchasing all cabins, reducing financial risks inherent in traditional sailings. The company previously cancelled Scarlet Lady’s April 2026 Caribbean cruise for a private charter, demonstrating this strategic approach on the West Coast.

Passengers who booked consecutive sailings, including both the cancelled Halloween cruise and the following November departure, have expressed frustration, citing lost promotional benefits such as My Next Virgin Voyage (MNVV) credits. One passenger stated, “Kind of bummed out, was really looking forward to it,” and noted concerns over the impact on promotional discounts.

Brilliant Lady

is Virgin Voyages’ West Coast flagship, an adults-only ship with capacity for 2,770 guests. The vessel offers itineraries along the Mexican Riviera from its Los Angeles homeport, featuring unique onboard amenities and inclusive dining designed to attract a younger, adult audience.

Passengers impacted by these cancellations and itinerary changes have roughly one year from their notification date to rearrange travel plans. These adjustments form part of Virgin Voyages’ broader schedule restructuring for its West Coast operations in the fall of 2027.
