Cyprus registered 580,889 tourist arrivals in September 2026, the highest number recorded for that month, marking a 1.8 percent increase over September 2025’s total of 570,635. This September figure also represented a 14 percent rise compared to 509,463 arrivals in September 2024.

The increase in September arrivals followed a 3.3 percent decline in August 2026, according to data from the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat) published on 19 October 2026. The gains were driven mainly by visitors from Israel, Britain, and Greece, which compensated for declines in other European markets.

Property market value rises alongside tourism

From January to September 2026, property transfer values in Cyprus reached

€3.72 billion, reflecting a 6.6 percent year-on-year increase compared to the same period in 2025. The number of completed property transfers also grew by approximately 4.1 percent during this timeframe.

The Real Estate Agents Registration Council reported that nationwide, 14,969 property sales contracts were deposited between January and September 2026, up 14 percent from 13,173 contracts in the corresponding period of 2025.

Tourism recovery tied to geopolitical stability

Deputy Tourism Minister Kostas Koumis noted that the uptick in September tourist arrivals indicated tourism’s recovery following disruptions linked to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. The improved figures suggest a sustained rebound in Cyprus’ tourism sector despite

a challenging start to 2026.

The growth in tourism arrivals also coincided with continued expansion in the property market during the first nine months of 2026, reflecting positive developments in Cyprus’ broader economic activity.
