Lemon Tree Hotels, an Indian hotel group, announced plans to expand into international markets frequently visited by Indian travelers. The company is targeting new properties in the UAE, Thailand, and the Maldives, adding to its existing presence in Nepal and Dubai.

Customer Base and Loyalty Program

Approximately 45% of Lemon Tree’s demand originates from repeat guests. The company currently has a loyalty program with around 2.5 million members. However, only half of the repeat customers participate in this program, presenting an opportunity to strengthen customer relationships during overseas stays.

Strategic Rationale and Geographic Focus

Executive Chairman Patanjali Keswani highlighted the company’s approach to international growth by following its core customers

abroad. The strategy focuses on destinations within about three hours’ flying time from India, such as the UAE, Thailand, and Maldives, to capitalize on established traveling patterns of Indian guests.

Lemon Tree Hotels CEO Neelendra Singh shared the expansion plans at the Skift India Intelligence Summit held in Delhi in 2026, emphasizing the use of the domestic customer base as a springboard for overseas markets.

Details about the exact number of new hotels or the timeline for openings in these target countries have not been disclosed.
