A luxury resort in Banff, Alberta, has completed a $115 million renovation and reopened as Rimrock Banff, Emblems Collection. The grand opening ceremony took place on October 5, 2026, marking the property as Accor’s first Emblems collection hotel in North America.
Resort Redesign and Accommodation Upgrades
The renovation encompassed a full redesign of 320 guest rooms, including 57 suites. The redesign, led by California-based Studio Collective, integrates floor-to-ceiling windows, natural materials, and contemporary artwork to reflect the surrounding Canadian Rockies. Rimrock Banff sits built into a mountainside overlooking Banff National Park. The largest accommodation is the infinity two-bedroom suite, featuring a 1,260-square-foot wraparound terrace with
a barrel sauna and fire table.
New Wellness and Fitness Facilities
The property added a 9,600-square-foot bathhouse, Banff’s first luxury hydrothermal wellness facility. Amenities include indoor and outdoor thermal pools such as a vitality pool, hot pool, and a mountain-facing infinity pool, alongside saunas, an aromatic steam room, and cold plunge pools. The bathhouse also contains a suspended meditation room and a sensory room designed for relaxation. Adjacent to the bathhouse is a 3,800-square-foot Movement Center, featuring fitness equipment, climbing and bouldering walls, guided fitness classes, and recovery services.
Dining Venues and Culinary Features
Rimrock Banff offers four distinct dining venues: Parker’s Table, Rimrock Social, The Listening Room, and Rimrock
Market. Parker’s Table serves seasonal cuisine highlighting ingredients sourced from local Alberta farmers, fishers, and foragers. Rimrock Social functions as a social hub with food, coffee, and cocktails. The Listening Room provides an intimate environment with a focus on wine, spirits, and vinyl music. Rimrock Market offers specialty coffee, casual provisions, and reflects the mountain setting. Alberta-produced honey is incorporated in the resort’s food and beverage programs, including a signature arrival drink and wellness tonics.
Outdoor Experiences and Activities
The resort features an Expeditions Centre staffed by a master pathfinder team that designs personalized itineraries and outdoor experiences. Guests can choose from over 50
seasonal activities, including guided hikes, forest bathing, alpine yoga, canyon ice walks, and Indigenous cultural experiences. Additional excursions include trips to the Athabasca Glacier and customized northern lights wake-up calls when conditions permit.
David Garcelon, General Manager of Rimrock Banff, said, “The resort, across the decades of its history, has always been defined by its remarkable setting. This transformation was guided by a simple philosophy: create a resort that feels inseparable from the landscape itself.”
