Holland America Line opened bookings on August 27, 2026, for its 2028 Alaska season, offering cruises lasting between seven and 18 days. The season will feature voyages aboard the Oosterdam, Noordam, Eurodam, Koningsdam, Westerdam, and Zaandam. These cruises operate from Seattle and Vancouver roundtrip, sail between Vancouver and Whittier, and include a new route from San Diego to Vancouver.

Itinerary Details Include Rare Voyages and New Scenic Routes

Among the 2028 Alaska season itineraries is a rare 11-day voyage running from California to Alaska, titled Shores, Fjords & Glaciers. Select Great Alaska Explorer and Great Bear Rainforest itineraries will incorporate scenic cruising through Nootka Sound on Vancouver Island’s west

coast, marking the first time this remote waterway, famed as the birthplace of British Columbia, is featured on the cruise line’s ocean routes. This expands the exploration options into less-traveled waterways in Alaska and British Columbia.

Reimagined Oosterdam Debuts with Enhanced Accommodations

The reimagined Oosterdam, transformed under Holland America Evolution—the line’s largest fleet investment in its 153-year history—will make its Alaska debut in 2028. It introduces purpose-built Solo Verandah staterooms and new Bridgeview Suites offering panoramic forward-facing views of mountains and glaciers. The ship also features the Grand Dutch Café, inspired by the cruise line’s Dutch heritage, alongside refreshed staterooms and updated guest spaces influenced by

the Pinnacle Class ships.

Alaska Cruisetours and Early Booking Bonus

Oosterdam will serve as the primary vessel for Holland America Line’s Alaska Cruisetours, which combine cruising with overland excursions into Denali and the Yukon. While details of 2028 Cruisetours will be announced later, the 2027 options remain bookable. The cruise line has launched the Have It All Early Booking Bonus for select 2028 Alaska cruises. This limited-time offer includes shore excursion credit, specialty dining, an Elite Beverage Package, premium Wi-Fi, prepaid Crew Appreciation, and a Best Price Guarantee.

Executive Statements on the 2028 Alaska Season

Paul Grigsby, vice president of revenue planning and deployment for Holland America Line, said the 2028 season combines

iconic Alaska experiences with rarer itineraries and new onboard features to offer guests a deeper connection to the region. He stated, “What has always set Holland America Line apart in Alaska is our ability to combine the iconic experiences guests dream about with opportunities to see the destination in ways they haven’t before.” Grigsby added that the reimagined Oosterdam will provide guests novel ways to enjoy Alaskan scenery both from new Bridgeview Suites and through the combination of cruises with overland journeys to Denali and the Yukon.
