Disney Cruise Line announced an increased presence in San Juan, Puerto Rico, planning eight calls in fiscal 2028. The deployment will include Disney Destiny, Disney Fantasy, and Disney Wish for these visits.

Among the eight scheduled calls in fiscal 2028, six will operate as homeport sailings while two are transit visits. The winter season of 2027-2028 marks the first time Disney will employ San Juan as a homeport during the Caribbean’s peak cruise season, expanding its operational footprint in the region.
Economic Impact and Traveler Options
Puerto Rico tourism officials estimate the eight calls will generate approximately $7.2 million in economic activity. Homeport cruises typically
produce higher local spending than transit calls by encouraging passengers to extend stays before or after their voyages. This can increase hotel occupancy and ground transportation usage in San Juan, providing more vacation opportunities for travelers.
Puerto Rico Cruise Industry and Official Comments
Willianette Robles Cancel, Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, stated, “The growth of homeport operations represents an important opportunity to increase the economic impact of the cruise sector in Puerto Rico.” San Juan has consistently served as a major hub for cruises to the southern and eastern Caribbean. This expansion follows a record fiscal year in cruise passenger arrivals at Puerto Rico’s
tourism ports.
Puerto Rico is also hosting the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association’s annual conference for the second consecutive year, emphasizing the island’s growing role within the regional cruise industry.
