Disney Cruise Line is increasing its presence in Puerto Rico with eight scheduled calls to San Juan during fiscal 2028, including six homeport sailings and two transit visits, according to the Puerto Rico Tourism Company.
Officials estimate that these calls will generate around $7.2 million in economic benefits. Homeport cruises typically contribute more economically than transit calls due to passengers spending on hotels, ground transportation, and other local services before and after voyages.
The expanding deployments in San Juan will involve the Disney Destiny, Disney Fantasy, and Disney Wish ships. The 2027-2028 winter season will mark the first time Disney
utilizes San Juan as a homeport during the Caribbean’s peak cruise period.
San Juan’s Role as Cruise Hub
San Juan has established itself as a major Caribbean cruise hub, especially for southern and eastern Caribbean itineraries. Puerto Rico recently closed its latest fiscal year with record cruise passenger arrivals at its ports.
Expanding Disney’s homeport presence adds the brand to Puerto Rico’s growing winter cruise lineup, reinforcing San Juan’s regional industry importance.

Travelers gain more options to begin Caribbean cruises from San Juan and can combine sailings with pre- or post-cruise stays on the island.
