Holland America Line revealed the redesigned Ocean Bar aboard its Oosterdam cruise ship on September 3, 2026, following the vessel’s Evolution refit as part of the company’s largest fleet update in 153 years.

The refurbishment of the Ocean Bar includes a new stage, remodeled lounge areas, and a reconfigured layout aimed at creating a closer connection between guests and live performances. The bar has been relocated and upgraded with custom furnishings featuring leather accents and fabrics made from recycled materials, drawing from Holland America’s maritime heritage and design elements inspired by the ship Rotterdam V.

The new stage enables a

broader range of entertainment options, including performances by regional soloists, pianists, Vivace Strings, and late-night cabaret shows. The overall design combines Art Deco elegance with nautical details to provide a refreshed yet familiar venue experience for passengers.

As part of the Evolution upgrade program, the Zuiderdam cruise ship is the second vessel scheduled to receive similar enhancements. Both Oosterdam and Zuiderdam will also feature new bandstands at the Lido Pool following their respective upgrades.

Post-refit, the Oosterdam will operate eight itineraries with 15 departure dates across Europe, the Caribbean, and North America starting in late 2027, after completing its fall

drydock service.

Michael Stendebach, senior vice president of food, beverage and rooms division for Holland America Line, said, “With the new Ocean Bar, we wanted to draw on the qualities that have made travel by sea so enduring, from its sense of elegance and occasion to the connections created along the way. Inspired by our maritime heritage, including design details drawn from Rotterdam V, this reimagined venue creates a setting where guests can gather for a cocktail, enjoy live music and immerse themselves in the refined elegance that has always been part of the Holland America experience.”

Details about other

ships involved in the Evolution program beyond Oosterdam and Zuiderdam, as well as specific design features or menu changes for the Ocean Bar, have not been disclosed.
