Compensation and Refund Options
Passengers continuing with the revised five-night itinerary will receive onboard credit equivalent to two days’ cruise fare per guest, and matching future cruise credit for use on any Royal Caribbean sailing. Prepaid packages—such as beverage
and dining options—and gratuities will be prorated. For those canceling, Royal Caribbean offers full refunds of cruise fares and prepaid packages, plus 25% of the cruise fare as future cruise credit valid until September 1, 2027. Airfare change fees will be reimbursed up to $200 per guest for domestic flights and $400 for international flights for both continuing and canceling passengers. Hotel reimbursement of up to $300 per stateroom per day is available for passengers proceeding with the cruise but not for cancellations.
Revised Alaska Itinerary Details
The new itinerary omits ports of Sitka, Juneau, and the scenic Endicott Arm cruise to Dawes Glacier,
all removed from the original schedule. The voyage will now call only at Ketchikan, Alaska, and Prince Rupert, British Columbia. The ship will perform scenic cruising through the Inside Passage twice, on both northbound and southbound legs. This reduced itinerary offers fewer destination experiences compared to the original seven-night program.
Passenger Options During Delay
Passengers can board Serenade of the Seas on either August 30 or 31 and remain aboard as a floating hotel while maintenance is completed in Vancouver. However, early boarders cannot disembark due to immigration restrictions, and key facilities such as the onboard shops and casino will remain closed during this
period. Limited services including select bars, lounges, and spa treatments will be available. Passengers staying ashore due to the delay are eligible for hotel reimbursement up to the specified daily cap for two nights.

Serenade of the Seas, a Radiance-class ship launched in 2003 with a gross tonnage of 90,090 and capacity for approximately 2,490 passengers at double occupancy, has experienced prior technical difficulties affecting its 2025 Alaska itinerary. In June 2025, mechanical problems reduced cruising speed and forced cancellation of an Icy Strait Point port call. The current maintenance delay is attributed to unforeseen vital repairs, likely involving propulsion
or navigational systems, requiring the vessel to remain in Vancouver for an extended period before resuming Alaska service.
