Virgin Voyages has cancelled the Brilliant Lady’s Halloween sailing scheduled for 30 October 2027 from Los Angeles, citing a private charter booking as the cause. The cruise was to call at San Diego, Ensenada, and Cabo San Lucas before returning on 6 November 2027.
Following the cancellation, Virgin Voyages has revised the subsequent seven-night Mexican Riviera cruise originally departing on 6 November 2027. This itinerary has been split into two shorter voyages: a four-night cruise visiting Catalina Island and Ensenada, and a three-night cruise calling at Ensenada only.
Virgin Voyages directly informed passengers affected by these changes. Those on the
cancelled Halloween sailing can either transfer to any other seven-night voyage departing Los Angeles between 18 September and 13 November 2027 with their original fare and promotional benefits preserved, plus a $100 onboard credit, or opt for a full fare refund. Passengers booked on the split Mexican Riviera cruises can switch to either of the new shorter itineraries with payments applied automatically and a $100 onboard credit provided.
The cruise line explained in cancellation notices, “Due to a private charter, this voyage has been canceled. We’re sorry for the disruption. We know how much planning goes into a vacation like
this, and we certainly don’t take this lightly.” Private charters guarantee full ship revenue, removing occupancy risks associated with traditional sailings. Virgin Voyages previously cancelled Scarlet Lady’s seven-night Caribbean sailing in April 2026 to accommodate a private charter as well.
Brilliant Lady serves as Virgin Voyages’ West Coast flagship vessel, accommodating 2,770 adult-only passengers. The ship features multiple specialty restaurants, boutique entertainment venues such as The Manor nightclub, and expansive outdoor areas. Virgin Voyages focuses its Los Angeles-based sailings on Mexican Riviera destinations, emphasizing an adults-only experience with no traditional buffets and inclusive dining.
