Skagen port in Denmark has awarded a contract valued at DKK 85 million for the installation of a shore power facility capable of supplying 16 MW to cruise ships. This project represents a significant investment aimed at enhancing environmental performance for vessels docked at the port.
The installation of shore power infrastructure is expected to contribute to reducing emissions from cruise ships while they are berthed, aligning with regional efforts to promote sustainable tourism. This upgrade will help minimize environmental impacts during passenger visits.
Denmark’s move to advance shore power capabilities places it alongside countries such as Norway, Spain, and
the United States, which have also prioritized similar port infrastructure developments to support cleaner maritime operations.
