Holland America Line has opened bookings for Zuiderdam’s inaugural European voyages following its transformation via the Holland America Evolution program, the cruise line’s largest fleet investment in its 153-year history. The enhanced Zuiderdam will return to service on April 2, 2028, with sailings beginning in the Mediterranean before transitioning to Northern Europe and Iceland for the summer season.
Expanded European Routes from Mediterranean to Iceland
After relaunching in the Mediterranean, Zuiderdam will operate sailings across Northern Europe, including Iceland and Greenland, from its summer homeport in Amsterdam. The ship’s itineraries cover destinations along the Atlantic coastlines of Portugal, Spain, and France, as well as the Norwegian fjords.
Highlights include open-jaw voyages connecting Rome, Barcelona, and Lisbon, and a 13-day Atlantic Europe voyage from Lisbon to Amsterdam.
Onboard Enhancements Under Holland America Evolution
The Zuiderdam transformation introduces Pinnacle Class features from Holland America Evolution to more vessels in the fleet. New accommodations slated for the ship include Solo Verandahs designed for solo travelers, Bridgeview Suites facing forward, Vista Suites, and a reimagined Pinnacle Suite. The addition of the Grand Dutch Café reflects the cruise line’s Dutch heritage and enhances onboard amenities.
Key Ports of Call on Mediterranean and Northern Europe Itineraries
In the Mediterranean, Zuiderdam will call at ports such as Livorno (providing access to Florence and Pisa), Marseille, Valencia, Málaga, Cádiz, Gibraltar, and
Tangier. The Atlantic Europe itinerary includes Porto, Bilbao, Bordeaux, Paris, London, Cork, and Dublin. Norwegian Fjords sailings visit Bergen, Oslo, Skjolden, Ålesund, and Nordfjordeid, featuring famed fjords like Sognefjord, Nordfjord, and Hardangerfjord. Iceland voyages include Akureyri, Ísafjörður, Seyðisfjörður, Grundarfjörður, and Heimaey, as well as stops in the Shetland and Faroe Islands.
