Radisson Hotel Group is advancing its strategic growth across the Middle East, Northeast Africa, Greece, and Cyprus under the leadership of Chief Development Officer Elie Milky. Milky, who joined the group in 2010 and has held his current expanded role since 2025, oversees development and brand conversions for Radisson’s full portfolio, including Prize by Radisson, Park Inn by Radisson, Radisson, Radisson Individuals, Radisson RED, Radisson Blu, art’otel, and Radisson Collection.
Industry Shift to Mixed-Use Hospitality Assets
Radisson Hotel Group is adapting to a rapid transformation in hospitality, moving beyond traditional hotels toward flexible, mixed-use lifestyle environments integrating residences, extended-stay options, workspaces, wellness facilities, and communal experiences.
This evolution reshapes hotels into lifestyle ecosystems that serve both local communities and travelers, emphasizing the creation of assets that generate value throughout the day across diverse customer segments.
Demand from guests is shifting toward intentional comparisons of value, convenience, experience, and brand purpose. Travelers increasingly blend business and leisure while expecting simple, relevant journeys. Guests show willingness to pay premiums for quality location, good sleep, thoughtful design, wellness offerings, authentic food and beverage, personalization, and time-saving services, while rejecting superficial luxury and impractical features.
Radisson incorporates artificial intelligence in its operations, particularly through its Hyperlocal initiative, which utilizes AI-powered
translation to deliver personalized, culturally relevant content in 34 languages across more than 60 markets. This approach has resulted in double-digit increases in conversion rates and tripled click-through rates compared to generic content. The group also launched a Radisson Hotels app integrated with ChatGPT to enable conversational hotel discovery, booking, and tailored recommendations, with plans to expand loyalty recognition and reservation management capabilities.
Middle East Emerges as Key Market
The Middle East is identified as a leading hospitality market due to substantial tourism investment, expanded air connectivity, destination development, and a rising domestic travel base. Saudi Arabia stands out for its urban transformations, flagship projects, and
growing leisure markets. Beyond major developments, the Holy Cities and secondary urban centers in Saudi Arabia require more branded, high-quality accommodation across various segments.
Egypt also offers substantial opportunities through its cities, resort locations, and emerging coastal destinations. Across the broader region, the demand extends to conversions, serviced apartments, branded residences, and midscale hotels that provide diversified and stable long-term value for investors.
Challenges and Strategic Responses in Development and Talent
Development feasibility remains a critical challenge for hospitality projects due to rising construction, financing, and operational costs that compress returns while maintaining guest expectations for quality. Radisson emphasizes disciplined, creative solutions, including conversions, adaptive reuse, mixed-use projects,
efficient design, and flexible operating models. Collaboration among owners, operators, designers, and lenders from project inception is essential to navigate these complexities.
Rapid hospitality growth in the Middle East intensifies competition for skilled talent. The industry faces challenges not only in recruitment but also in accelerating talent development to sustain service standards. Radisson invests in local talent through partnerships with educational institutions and career progression facilitated by Radisson Academy, which has delivered over 8.5 million learning hours and fills 40% of job vacancies internally.
Upcoming talent needs focus on combining emotional intelligence with commercial and digital competencies such as data
literacy, revenue management, technology adoption, and sustainability expertise. Adaptable leadership capable of crossing cultural and operational boundaries remains vital.
Future Outlook and Portfolio Growth
Radisson anticipates continued portfolio growth over the next 12 months, including lifestyle hotels, resorts, serviced apartments, branded residences, and conversions across its markets. The group’s development strategy aims to align each project with the appropriate brand and operating model tailored to specific market demands. Milky highlights the industry’s need for measured growth based on long-term asset performance rather than solely on announced hotel numbers.
Elie Milky is scheduled to speak at the FHS World event from 29 September to 1 October
2026 at Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai, discussing trends and challenges shaping the hospitality sector.
