Western Railway reinstated all major and premium train operations on the Mumbai-Gujarat corridor on July 25, 2026, ending two days of widespread cancellations caused by heavy rainfall. The morning Vande Bharat Express trains from Mumbai Central and Gandhinagar Capital completed their journeys with delays of approximately one hour. Afternoon Vande Bharat services on the same route were scheduled to run according to the regular timetable. Other key trains including Karnavati Express, Double Decker, Shatabdi, and Rajdhani Express also resumed service after cancellations on July 24. The Mumbai Central to Ahmedabad Shatabdi Express arrived 20 minutes late but is set to
depart on schedule on its return journey.
Heavy rain and subsequent waterlogging led to flooding of tracks across multiple locations on the Mumbai-Gujarat rail corridor, notably impacting the Gholvad-Umbergaon Road and Bilimora sections. These conditions caused significant disruptions to train movements and necessitated safety regulations, including speed restrictions of 15 km/h at affected points to facilitate a controlled restoration of the train schedule. Restoration efforts were conducted progressively during July 24 and 25 to stabilize operations and clear flooded sections of the track.
Remaining Train Cancellations on July 25 and 26
Despite service restoration, several trains remained cancelled due to the disruption. On July 25, the Borivali-Vatva Express
(19417), Bandra Terminus-Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi Special (02200), Amritsar-Bandra Terminus Golden Temple Express (12904), and Jamnagar-Vadodara Intercity (22960) were not operational. Additional cancellations are scheduled for July 26, including the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-Jamnagar Superfast (12478), Amritsar-Bandra Terminus Paschim Express (12926), and Dadar-Porbandar Express (19015).
Passenger Guidance and Service Status
Passengers traveling on the Mumbai-Gujarat corridor can now utilize fully operational train services, although some residual delays continue as Western Railway manages timetable restoration. Railway authorities advise travelers to verify the latest running status of trains before departure, as select long-distance services may still experience delays. Network regulation and restoration are ongoing to return train
timings to normal following the flooding-related suspension of services.
