MSC Cruises has completed the final sea trials of its vessel MSC World Asia in the Atlantic Ocean off the west coast of France. The ship is scheduled for delivery on November 25, 2026, at Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France. The official naming ceremony will take place on November 28, 2026, in Le Havre, France. The ship’s maiden voyage is set to begin on December 4, 2026, departing from Barcelona on a seven-night itinerary.
Sea Trials and Technical Performance
The final sea trials tested MSC World Asia’s engines, maneuverability, fuel efficiency, safety systems, speed, and stopping distances. As the third World-class LNG-powered vessel
in MSC Cruises’ fleet, the ship operates on liquefied natural gas, enhancing fuel efficiency while also enabling the use of bio- and synthetic renewable LNG fuels. MSC World Asia is one of the most fuel-efficient cruise ships in operation and is equipped with shore power connectivity for enhanced environmental performance while docked.
Onboard Facilities and Amenities
The ship offers more than 40 bars, lounges, and restaurants, along with international entertainment options and dedicated family facilities. Passenger accessibility is a focus, with embarkation accommodations available at all ports of call. MSC World Asia incorporates design elements inspired by Asian culture, art, and landscapes, featuring a
12-meter-long and nine-meter-wide dragon sculpture suspended 10 meters above the World Promenade.
Itineraries and Distinctive Features
MSC World Asia will operate seven-night itineraries in the Mediterranean, visiting ports including Barcelona, Marseille, Genoa, Civitavecchia for Rome, Messina, and Valletta. The vessel includes The Spiral @ Tree of Life, the longest dry slide at sea at 81.3 meters in length, descending 12 decks while offering ocean views. The ship will receive final finishing touches at the Saint-Nazaire shipyard before delivery to MSC Cruises.
