MSC World Asia has completed its final sea trials in the Atlantic Ocean off the west coast of France as part of preparations for its delivery on November 25, 2026. The trials tested the ship’s engines, maneuverability, fuel efficiency, safety systems, speed, and stopping distances.
Ship Specifications and LNG Technology
The new vessel is MSC Cruises’ 24th ship and the third LNG-powered World-class ship in the fleet. It is among the most efficient cruise ships at sea, capable of operating on liquefied natural gas as well as bio- and synthetic renewable LNG fuels. The ship is also equipped with shore power connectivity for reduced emissions
at port.
Amenities and Onboard Features
MSC World Asia offers over 40 bars, lounges, and restaurants onboard. Entertainment options cater to international audiences alongside family facilities. One highlight is The Spiral @ Tree of Life, an 81.3-meter-long dry slide descending 12 decks, providing ocean views. Asian cultural design elements are incorporated, including a 12-meter-long, 9-meter-wide dragon sculpture suspended 10 meters above the World Promenade.
Itinerary and Embarkation
Starting December 4, 2026, the ship will operate seven-night cruises departing Barcelona. The route includes port calls at Marseille, Genoa, Civitavecchia (Rome), Messina, and Valletta. Embarkation is accessible at every port on this itinerary.
Final outfitting and finishing touches will
take place at Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, before the scheduled delivery date.
The official naming ceremony is planned for November 28, 2026, in Le Havre, France, with attendance from global industry representatives, media, and partners.
