Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar, introduced Fast Pass in July 2026, a biometric travel system developed with Qatar Airways and SITA that enables passengers to use facial recognition for a largely paperless departure process.

Fast Pass Enrollment and Usage Across 700 Touchpoints

The Fast Pass system connects more than 700 biometric touchpoints across the airport, allowing enrolled travelers to use facial recognition instead of presenting documents at check-in, bag drop, security screening, and boarding gates. Enrollment is available via self-service kiosks at the airport or through the Qatar Airways mobile app before departure. Participation in Fast Pass remains voluntary, with standard document processing lanes and airport staff

available for assistance.

Operational Benefits and Planned Expansion

Facial recognition checks at each biometric touchpoint take only a few seconds, reducing congestion and speeding up passenger flow. The system integrates multiple airport processes into a single trusted biometric journey, emphasizing data privacy and secure handling. Hamad International Airport and Qatar Airways plan to extend the biometric processing capabilities to additional touchpoints and other airlines operating at the airport in the near future.
