The FAA imposed a ground stop at Newark Airport, John F. Kennedy Airport, and LaGuardia Airport on August 11, 2026, resulting in more than 930 flights being cancelled or delayed across the New York area.

Thunderstorms prompted the FAA to implement the ground stop, affecting flight operations at the New York metro area’s three major airports: Newark, JFK, and LaGuardia.
