Holland America Line announced changes to Zaandam’s 35-day Legendary Hawaii, Tahiti & Marquesas itinerary scheduled to depart San Diego on October 15, 2026. The revision cancels the stop at Tabuaeran (Fanning Island), Kiribati, and modifies arrival and departure times for multiple ports.

Key itinerary alterations include the cancellation of the October 29 call at Tabuaeran. In French Polynesia, Zaandam will visit Raiatea on November 3 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., followed by Bora Bora on November 4 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., reversing the original schedule. The new Bora Bora port time is reduced by five hours, with

departure moved up from 11 p.m. to 6 p.m. The calls at Kahului, Hawaii, on October 24 and Moorea, French Polynesia, on November 6 each gained two additional hours. Passengers booked on the October 15 sailing will receive a non-refundable onboard credit of US$100 for use on specialty dining, spa treatments, retail purchases, or shore excursions, according to www.cruisemapper.com.

Holland America Line attributed the changes to necessary adjustments in Zaandam’s planned operating speed along parts of the voyage. The company did not confirm any link to a propulsion issue Zaandam encountered in June 2026 during Alaskan sailings, when a propulsion

system fault caused itinerary disruptions, including an extended Juneau stay and canceled calls at Skagway and Ketchikan.

The itinerary modifications impact passengers by removing the Kiribati port and altering the timing of several port visits. Holland America Line’s official communication emphasized the need to align the schedule with the ship’s operating parameters without confirming a mechanical cause beyond speed adjustments.

The revised sequence of calls in French Polynesia was designed to prevent docking overlaps with Silversea’s Silver Whisper, which also visits Raiatea and Bora Bora in early November. Earlier departure from Bora Bora on November 4 offers an opportunity for

a sunset sailaway. The cruise will maintain its original departure date of October 15, 2026, and return to San Diego at voyage end.
