Royal Caribbean announced in early October 2026 that its newest Icon-class ship, Hero of the Seas, will feature “The SpongeBob Musical” as the headline entertainment starting with its maiden voyage from Miami in August 2027. Hero of the Seas is the fourth Icon-class ship from Royal Caribbean and is tied as the world’s largest cruise ship with its sister ships.
“The SpongeBob Musical” is adapted from the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical and has been reimagined specifically for the Royal Theater on Hero of the Seas. The production is a family-friendly, creative, cutting-edge show designed to bring families of all ages
together onboard.
Hero of the Seas Features and Itineraries
Constructed at Meyer Turku Shipyard in Finland and floated out in September 2026, Hero of the Seas is currently undergoing outfitting prior to sea trials and delivery in 2027. The ship includes eight distinct neighborhoods, nine pools, six waterslides, a FlowRider surf simulator, 28 dining venues, and new accommodations.
Royal Caribbean offers seven-night itineraries on Hero of the Seas to the Eastern and Western Caribbean. These cruises depart from Miami and are available for booking from summer 2027 through spring 2028.
