Royal Caribbean announced cancellations for multiple cruises scheduled in August 2026, affecting cruises departing from Los Angeles and visiting Mexican ports. The affected ships are Navigator of the Seas and Ovation of the Seas.
Navigator of the Seas and Ovation of the Seas Redeployment Plans
The cruise line will reposition Navigator of the Seas to operate year-round in Asia from October 2026 through October 2027. This includes short two- to five-night cruises around Southeast Asia, visiting countries such as Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand, as well as a 12-night voyage from Tokyo to Singapore. Booking for these itineraries has recently opened.
Ovation of the Seas is set to be redeployed to Brisbane,
Australia, beginning November 2027 for the 2027-28 season. It will offer four-night sailings to Airlie Beach in Queensland’s Whitsunday region and three- to eight-night cruises around Australia and nearby destinations.
Passenger Notifications and Rebooking Options
Passengers and travel partners booked on the canceled August 2026 cruises have been notified directly. Options provided include switching to other cruises, transferring to different ships, or obtaining full refunds. Refunds cover prepaid add-ons where suitable alternatives are unavailable.
Royal Caribbean emphasized that guests impacted by these cancellations must rearrange their travel plans due to the redeployments.
Background on Fleet Redeployments and Previous Cancellations
The cancellations are part of Royal Caribbean’s broader strategic expansion in the Asia-Pacific
region for the 2027-28 season. The cruise line balances scheduling, port agreements, demand, and fleet capacity in planning deployments.
Earlier in March 2026, Royal Caribbean canceled more than 20 cruises aboard Freedom of the Seas planned for summer 2027. That ship was redeployed to Southampton, England. A corporate spokesperson said deployment planning is dynamic and regularly reviewed based on demand and fleet considerations.
“Royal Caribbean is committed to providing the best vacation experiences. This process includes making updates to itineraries, as necessary, to accommodate scheduling, port agreements, and other operational considerations,” the spokesperson said. The company continues to directly contact
guests and travel partners with details about cancellations and booking options.
