Nobu revealed plans on July 28, 2026, to develop a luxury hotel, restaurant, villas, and branded residences at Monte Rei resort in Portugal’s Eastern Algarve. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027, aiming to open the Nobu Hotel by 2029.
Hotel and Residential Development Details
The forthcoming Nobu Hotel will comprise 100 rooms and suites alongside a signature Nobu restaurant and various guest amenities. The project also includes 21,000 square meters of Nobu-branded villas and residences, offering private accommodations within Monte Rei’s expansive grounds.
DSA Architects and the Rockwell Group have been appointed to design the architectural and interior elements of the development. The Rockwell
Group is a long-standing design partner for Nobu.
Monte Rei’s Profile and Investment Context
Monte Rei occupies over 1,000 acres in Portugal’s Eastern Algarve and is established for its Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course. The resort is internationally recognized for its golf offerings, quality service, and luxury residential living. Norfin is leading the broader investment program that covers hospitality, residential projects, leisure amenities, and future developments including a potential beach club.
The Nobu project represents the brand’s second destination in Portugal and expands its European portfolio, bringing Nobu’s lifestyle and hospitality model to the Eastern Algarve.
