InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has surpassed 1,000 operating hotels across Europe as of October 22, 2026, having added more than 210 hotels to its regional portfolio in the past three years. This expansion represents net system size growth exceeding 25%, solidifying IHG’s presence in the European hospitality market.
IHG’s development pipeline currently includes over 280 additional hotels across Europe. These upcoming properties cover luxury, premium business, lifestyle, and more affordable branded accommodations, reflecting a broad segmentation approach.
Since the start of 2024, IHG has recorded 36 brand debuts in various European countries, excluding Ruby brand properties. IHG also acquired Ruby,
a premium urban lifestyle hotel company, and launched Noted Collection, its 21st hotel brand, which has secured seven global signings.
Notable Hotel Additions
The Hari is an 85-room hotel located in Belgravia, London near Knightsbridge and Hyde Park, which has joined IHG’s Vignette Collection. This collection now has 13 operating hotels in Europe and 16 properties under development. Ruby Lilou Hotel Marseille marks the Ruby brand’s debut in France, situated near Marseille’s historic waterfront and central districts.
In Austria, Crowne Plaza Vienna is a 195-room property strengthening IHG’s premium offering in the city, further adding to the group’s luxury and lifestyle portfolio across
key European urban centers.
Europe’s Role and IHG’s Growth Strategy
Europe remains the world’s largest international tourism destination, with approximately 793 million international arrivals in 2025, accounting for more than half of global international tourism activity. Strong leisure demand, international city breaks, and business travel support significant hotel investment in the region.
IHG has used hotel conversions alongside new developments to bring international brands into central urban locations where new building construction is difficult, contributing to the group’s diversified portfolio across cities such as London, Marseille, and Vienna.
Impact on Travelers and Loyalty Program
The expansion increases the range of destinations and properties available through IHG One Rewards, the loyalty program with
more than 160 million members globally. This program connects guests across an expanding portfolio of brands, enhancing traveler choice across Europe.
