Western Railway cancelled dozens of premium, long-distance, and passenger trains during the flooding which disrupted normal operations and restricted train speeds to 15 kmph in affected zones.
Restoration of Major Train Services and Delays
Western Railway restored operations of all key and premium trains on the Mumbai-Gujarat route by July 25, allowing services such as the Karnavati Express, Double Decker, Shatabdi, Rajdhani, and Vande Bharat Express to resume. Morning departures of the
Vande Bharat Express from Mumbai Central and Gandhinagar Capital completed journeys with delays of approximately one hour. The Shatabdi Express from Mumbai Central to Ahmedabad arrived 20 minutes late, while its return trip was scheduled on time. Western Railway officials noted that residual delays remain as the timetable is progressively normalized.
Scheduled Cancellations and Ongoing Delays
Even as most services resumed on July 25, Western Railway confirmed several trains remained cancelled over July 25 and July 26. On July 25 cancellations included Borivali-Vatva Express (19417), Bandra Terminus-Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi Special (02200), Amritsar-Bandra Terminus Golden Temple Express (12904), and Jamnagar-Vadodara Intercity (22960). Trains cancelled on July
26 include Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-Jamnagar Superfast (12478), Amritsar-Bandra Terminus Paschim Express (12926), and Dadar-Porbandar Express (19015). Train movements continue to be regulated to restore the full schedule.
