The California High-Speed Rail Authority has awarded a $3.5 billion contract to a construction consortium led by Kiewit for track and systems installation within the Central Valley segment of the state’s high-speed rail project.
Contract Scope Covers Track and Railway Systems Installation
The contract involves the laying of electrified tracks as well as the installation of associated railway systems required to operate the route. This represents a significant phase in the development of what aims to be the first dedicated high-speed rail line in the United States.
Installation activities under the contract will concentrate on the Central Valley section, which is a crucial portion of the overall rail
corridor. The work by the Kiewit-led consortium marks an important advance in continuing construction efforts on this segment.
Once operational, this infrastructure is expected to improve rail connectivity and reduce travel times along the route. However, specific timelines for completion and detailed technical specifications have not been disclosed as part of the current contract announcement.
