The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has raised concerns about the potential loss of up to 41 million visitor arrivals in Europe. The warning is linked to delays expected at border checks following the introduction of the European Union’s new Entry/Exit System (EES).
The WTTC analysis highlights that border delays related to the EES could reach up to three hours. Such extended processing times may have a significant impact on the flow of visitors into the European Union, posing a risk to the region’s tourism sector.
Travelers heading to Europe should be prepared for possible waiting times at external
EU border controls due to the rollout of the EES system. While the overall scale of delays remains uncertain, the WTTC has not specified which countries or specific border points might experience the greatest effects.
