World Travel Expo (WTE) Miami 2026 commenced its fourth edition on October 27, 2026, at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The two-day event was inaugurated by Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner, Miami International Airport Director and CEO Ralph Cutié, and PortMiami Director and CEO Jonathan Daniels. The opening ceremony officially marked the start of business development, networking, and industry programming for travel professionals and tourism leaders.
On the first day, nearly 2,000 qualified and vetted unique attendees engaged with more than 400 exhibitors, surpassing the total attendance of the previous year’s entire show. The
turnout reflected the travel sector’s demand for dedicated opportunities to connect and explore new destinations, products, and offerings across the industry.
Simon Press, Managing Director of WTE Miami, stated, “WTE has proven the need for an event in this format, delivering a neutral platform. The objective was to increase the content and value for the industry this year, and WTE has achieved this through the number of exhibitors and conference sessions.” He added, “It’s been encouraging to see travel advisors having those conversations, discovering new experiences they can promote to their clients and learning what’s trending through the conference sessions.”
Conference Focus on Traveler Trends and Destination Development
The conference program on October 27 explored shifting preferences among American travelers, destination development, and trends affecting travel decisions. A highlight of the sessions was Rose Mary Cortes of MMGY presenting insights from the company’s annual Portrait of American Travelers study. The presentation attracted a full audience, with standing room used to accommodate attendees eager to learn about evolving consumer behaviors in travel.
Rose Mary Cortes explained, “What’s really interesting is how travelers are discovering destinations in new ways, with AI becoming part of how they find inspiration and plan their trips. At the same time, they’re looking to get
more out of every vacation, whether that means exploring multiple destinations, discovering new experiences, or fitting more activities into one trip. For destinations, there’s a real opportunity to showcase the variety of experiences they offer and inspire travelers to make the most of their time away.” Conference topics also included adventure travel, cruising, culinary and wellness travel, multi-destination itineraries, and emerging destinations set to gain traction in 2027.
Industry Development and Networking
Cyndi Williams, Founder and CEO of Wanderlust Campus®, addressed the importance of developing profitable travel advisors during a conference session. She noted, “The travel industry’s greatest opportunity isn’t just attracting more travel
advisors. It’s developing more profitable ones. Product knowledge alone doesn’t build a successful travel business. Business systems, entrepreneurial skills, and professional certification are what moves the needle. Host agencies that prioritize these investments alongside their advisors will be the ones that win in the next era of travel.”
The opening day concluded with an evening cocktail reception aimed at fostering further networking and relationship-building among attendees and exhibitors. The event is scheduled to continue on October 28, 2026, with additional exhibition activities, conference sessions, and opportunities for business development.
