Universal Music Group, in partnership with White Rocks, plans to develop UMusic Hotel & Private Residences Austin on a 71-acre site at the edge of Texas Hill Country. The project features 150 hotel rooms, 600 private residences, and a new open-air venue named White Rocks Amphitheater.
Construction is set to begin in the first quarter of 2027, with a projected opening in the first quarter of 2029. Residence prices currently range from $850 to $1,450 per square foot depending on location and views, marking the first UMusic property in Austin to combine hotel accommodations with private residences.
Amenities, Wellness Services, and Sustainability Initiatives
The development will
include multiple amenities such as a bar, nightclub, comedy club, dining venues, a rooftop pool, fitness center, spa, and wellness center. The spa will offer traditional treatments alongside advanced therapies including red-light therapy, peptide therapy, and cryogenic chambers. The amphitheater will also host activities like yoga and fitness events.
Developer sustainability commitments include a microgrid energy system, a closed-loop water system aiming for 100% water reuse, and Dark Sky-compliant lighting designed to reduce light pollution. Over 70% of the site will be maintained as green open space to preserve the natural environment.
Community Engagement and Leadership
The project will allocate a portion of ticket
sales to a perpetual endowment benefiting local artists and nonprofits. Emerging talent will receive paid gigs, and partnerships will be established with schools and cultural institutions to support mentorship and education programs.
Jordi Solé, president of UMusic Hospitality & Lifestyle, said, “Our vision is to create places where culture is made, shared, and celebrated. This property combines performance, wellness, nature, and community into a single living ecosystem, reflecting Austin’s creative spirit on a global stage.” An official statement added, “The result is a living environment that offers the peace of a private retreat alongside the vibrancy of an international cultural
hub.”
UMusic Hotel Madrid and New Austin Concept
UMusic Hotel & Private Residences Austin follows the existing UMusic Hotel in Madrid, Spain. Unlike the Madrid location, the Austin project integrates private residences alongside its hotel and entertainment offerings, expanding Universal Music Group’s hospitality footprint.
Cultural and Environmental Significance
The development leverages Austin’s reputation as the “Live Music Capital” by creating a comprehensive entertainment and lifestyle destination that balances music culture with wellness and nature conservation. Its sustainability and community support initiatives align with Austin’s local values and creative ecosystem.
