United Airlines will introduce service to three new international destinations from Houston Bush Intercontinental Airport this winter, expanding its network from Texas. Flights to Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Mexico, the capital of Chiapas, are scheduled to launch later in October 2026. This route will provide Tuxtla Gutiérrez its only nonstop international connection.
New Flights to Caracas and Cartagena
United is set to resume service to Caracas, Venezuela, starting January 2027. The Houston-Caracas route, previously planned for August 2026, was delayed after two large earthquakes severely damaged Simón Bolívar International Airport, Caracas’ primary gateway. In addition, United will commence flights to Cartagena, Colombia, in December 2026, a route it
announced in June 2026.
Terminal Expansion Supports Growth
These route additions coincide with the Houston Airport System’s opening of the Terminal B North Concourse at Houston Bush Intercontinental Airport. The new concourse spans 765,000 square feet and includes 22 gates. A key feature is the 54,000-square-foot United Club lounge, the largest airline lounge in the Americas, designed to accommodate United’s expanded operations.
United has also revealed plans to restart flights to Chihuahua, Mexico, next spring. However, no specific launch date or schedule has been announced for this reinstated route.
