Severe thunderstorms struck London Heathrow and Gatwick airports on June 28, 2026, causing extensive disruptions to flight operations. The adverse weather conditions resulted in the cancellation of numerous flights at both major London airports.

As a result of these cancellations, an estimated 40,000 passengers have been left stranded at Heathrow and Gatwick on the same day. The thunderstorms significantly impacted the ability of the airports to maintain regular schedules, leading to widespread delays and travel interruptions.
