The Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop for inbound flights and departure delay notices for outgoing flights at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on Friday, October 30, 2026. The ground stop was effective from 11 a.m. to noon for flights arriving from the Southwest and Pacific Coast regions. Departure delays from the airport averaged 60 minutes at 1 p.m., down from 75 minutes earlier in the day.

According to the Phoenix Sky Harbor website, as of 2 p.m., 245 flights were delayed and three flights had been canceled. Flight tracking service FlightAware reported a total of 503 delays and

four cancellations for flights arriving and departing Phoenix at the time of reporting.

Weather and Flight Disruptions

Thunderstorms moved into the Phoenix area early on October 30, 2026, leading to an active weather day that disrupted flight operations at Sky Harbor and surrounding airspace. The severe weather conditions prompted the FAA to place restrictions affecting multiple flights in the region.

Passengers at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport encountered delayed departures averaging one hour and cancellations totaling at least three flights as of mid-afternoon on October 30, 2026. Ground stops halted inbound traffic for one hour, compounding scheduling disruptions reported by both the airport and

flight tracking sources.
