SunExpress, a Turkish low-cost carrier, will begin operating regular direct flights between Almaty Airport in Kazakhstan and Izmir Airport in Turkey starting July 31, 2026, according to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport.

Regular Flight Operations and Bilateral Benefits

The Kazakhstan Ministry of Transport confirmed the flights will run on a regular basis. This launch is part of the Ministry’s efforts to expand Kazakhstan’s international air route network and to strengthen trade, economic, business, tourism, and cultural ties between Kazakhstan and Turkey.

SunExpress’s new direct flights will provide travelers with cost-effective, regular services without the need for connecting flights, enhancing travel efficiency between Almaty and Izmir. The route

reflects Kazakhstan’s strategic expansion of its air connections with Turkey starting in mid-2026.
