Turkish low-cost carrier SunExpress announced it will start operating regular direct flights between Almaty Airport in Kazakhstan and Izmir Airport in Turkey on July 31, 2026. These flights mark SunExpress’s entry into Kazakhstan’s air transport sector and introduce a new nonstop international route.
Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport confirmed the launch on July 30, 2026. The ministry highlighted that the addition of the Almaty-Izmir route aligns with its ongoing efforts to expand the country’s route network. The direct flights are intended to reinforce trade, economic, business, tourism, and cultural links between Kazakhstan and Turkey.
