Sunday PropTech, the hospitality investment division of Indian group Prism, has acquired Fletcher Hotels, the largest hotel chain in the Netherlands, from independent investor Egeria and Fletcher’s management as of October 26, 2026. The portfolio encompasses 170 hotels, including 130 owned and operated properties plus 40 partner locations across the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany.
Fletcher Hotels’ Rapid Expansion through Acquisitions
Since 2016, Fletcher Hotels has expanded aggressively through a buy-and-build strategy involving roughly 60 acquisitions. The chain grew from 73 hotels in 2016 to 103 by 2021, the year Egeria acquired a majority stake. By 2026, the portfolio reached 170 hotels, mainly offering three- and four-star
accommodations in coastal, urban, and rural areas.
Prism’s European Growth Strategy
Sunday PropTech’s acquisition of Fletcher Hotels aligns with Prism’s broader expansion across Europe. Prism, which owns budget brand Oyo and rebranded from Oravel Stays to Prism in September 2025 to reflect a wider portfolio including Motel 6, Studio 6, and Sunday Hotels, has been increasing its hotel assets in Germany and Belgium. Earlier in 2026, Prism opened three hotels in Germany and one in Belgium under brands such as Belvilla, supporting its European footprint ahead of a planned IPO.
Dutch Hotel Investment Climate in 2026
Investment volumes in Dutch hotels have fallen sharply in 2026 amid pricing uncertainties. Third-quarter
2026 hotel investment totaled €224 million, down from €625 million in the same period a year earlier. According to CBRE, hotel transactions were the only sector not showing growth in the first half of 2026, with just six deals valued around €56 million, representing an 86% decline year-over-year. Cushman & Wakefield noted foreign investors are increasingly selective about Dutch hotels due to more attractive returns and tax conditions in other European markets.
Egeria’s Investments and Deal Advisement
During its ownership, Egeria and Fletcher’s management invested substantially in organisational growth, real estate, and technology platforms aimed at improving guest experiences, said Mark Wetzels, senior partner at
Egeria. Rothschild & Co. acted as advisor to Fletcher Hotels on the acquisition by Sunday PropTech. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
This marks Sunday PropTech’s second Dutch hotel acquisition in two months, coming shortly after purchasing a sizable stake in Amsterdam-based design hotel group Sircle Collection. Prism’s IPO plans, first filed in 2021, have been delayed multiple times with the latest offering size reduced to 33.5 billion rupees ($355 million).
