Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has opened bookings for Norwegian Bella, a new Prima-class cruise ship scheduled to begin seven-day round-trip voyages from Barcelona, Spain in May 2028. The vessel measures approximately 1,129 feet long, with a gross tonnage of 170,000 and a guest capacity of 3,921 at double occupancy, making it one of the largest ships in the NCL fleet.

Inaugural Mediterranean Itineraries Departing Barcelona

Norwegian Bella’s inaugural season will offer seven-day cruises calling on major Mediterranean ports including Rome, Florence and Salerno in Italy; Marseille in France; and Palma de Mallorca in Spain. These itineraries enable guests to explore key European destinations on a

single voyage.

Shipbuilder and Design Collaborations

The ship is under construction by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri and will join sister Prima-class ship Norwegian Aura, which is set to launch in 2027. Norwegian Bella’s interiors are designed by prominent firms including AD Associates, Piero Lissoni, Rockwell Group, SMC Design, and Studio Dado, bringing an elevated aesthetic to the onboard experience.

Onboard Features and Recreational Facilities

Norwegian Bella features Ocean Heights, a multi-level open-air complex spanning decks 18 through 21, which functions as a daytime sun deck and transforms into a vibrant social venue with immersive lighting by night. Adventure offerings include the Eclipse Racers side-by-side water slides, the Bella Free Fall

waterslide, The Wave raft slide for up to four riders, and The Drop dry slide descending 10 decks. Additional attractions include the Bella Ropes Course, Bella Midway carnival-style area, a nine-hole mini golf course, and the Moon Climber multi-level harness-free adventure course.

The Ocean Boulevard promenade on deck 8 wraps around the ship providing expanded seating compared to earlier Prima-class ships, hot tubs, an outdoor bar, and Infinity Beach comprising infinity pools, daybeds, and a full-service bar. The pool deck exceeds the size of those on Norwegian Aqua and Luna by over 15%, and includes an infinity hot tub and

a large LED screen for entertainment. Horizon Park on deck 19 offers outdoor lawn games and lounging areas.

Dedicated Family and Adult Spaces and Accommodation Options

Norwegian Bella provides dedicated children’s spaces: Little Explorers’ Cay for ages two to six featuring a playhouse and slides, Adventure Alley for ages six to 10 with tunnels and ocean-themed play structures, and Surf’s Bay for teens with a surf wall installation. The Kids’ Aqua Park includes a splash pad, interactive features, and two family waterslides named The Party Slide and Infinity Loop.

Adults can enjoy the Vibe Beach Club, a private, adults-only retreat with infinity hot tubs, bar service, sun loungers,

and daybeds. The ship offers nearly 2,000 staterooms, ranging from studios and inside cabins to balcony rooms, accommodating families and multigenerational travelers.

The Haven Suites and Exclusive Guest Services

The Haven by Norwegian on Norwegian Bella comprises 159 suites located in an aft ship-within-a-ship area. Designed by Piero Lissoni, this exclusive enclave features private elevators, a sundeck with an infinity pool, two hot tubs, an outdoor sauna and cold room, as well as separate family and adults-only areas. Haven guests have access to a private restaurant and bar with exclusive menus and a lounge. Additional amenities include 24-hour butler and concierge service and priority embarkation, disembarkation, and

reservation handling.

Hull Artwork and Artist Collaboration

Australian contemporary artist George Rose created the hull artwork for Norwegian Bella, featuring bold murals and botanical themes utilizing vivid color and organic shapes to evoke travel inspiration and discovery. Rose, whose portfolio includes work for international cultural institutions and global brands, described the design as reflecting the excitement of exploration. She expressed anticipation to see her work enliven the ship as it visits European destinations.

Official Statement and Fleet Context

Marc Kazlauskas, president of Norwegian Cruise Line, called Norwegian Bella a milestone in the Prima Class fleet. He noted the ship integrates innovations and guest feedback from earlier vessels, combining outdoor spaces

and family-friendly attractions with venues for relaxation and social connection. Kazlauskas emphasized the design aims to provide guests flexibility to customize their vacation experience. Norwegian Bella will operate in Europe, complementing Norwegian Aura which will sail the Caribbean, expanding NCL’s newest offerings to two prominent cruise regions.
