Farmers from Quebec gathered at Parliament Hill to voice their objections to the Alto high-speed rail initiative planned to connect Quebec City with Toronto. The demonstrations reflect growing discontent from local agricultural communities toward the building of this rail link.

Alongside the protests, the provincial political party Parti Québécois has declared its opposition to the Alto rail project. The party is advocating for federal funding currently aimed at this rail development to be allocated to other priorities instead.
