On Thursday, July 16, 2026, a pregnant woman onboard the Carnival Sunrise was medically evacuated due to pregnancy complications. The evacuation was conducted by a U.S. Coast Guard Station Miami Beach crew with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue coordinating the transfer.

Location and Transfer Details

The transfer occurred approximately 4 miles northeast of Government Cut off the coast of Miami. Following the Coast Guard’s safe transfer from the cruise ship, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported the woman to Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami. Carnival Cruise Line reported the ship resumed its scheduled itinerary without impact.

Carnival Cruise Line stated, “On July 16, shortly after departing from

Miami, FL, Carnival Sunrise reported the need to medically disembark a passenger due to illness. In coordination with the U.S. Coast Guard, the passenger was safely transferred from the vessel and transported to a shoreside medical facility for further treatment. The ship resumed its voyage and there was no impact to its scheduled itinerary.” The U.S. Coast Guard confirmed their Station Miami Beach crew responded to the medical emergency reported by the vessel’s security manager and transferred the patient safely to EMS.
