Norwegian Cruise Line has launched sales for its newest Prima-class ship, Norwegian Bella, which will begin seven-day round-trip Mediterranean sailings from Barcelona, Spain in May 2028. The 1,129-foot vessel will weigh 170,000 gross tons and accommodate 3,921 passengers at double occupancy, ranking it among the largest ships in the cruise line’s fleet.
Mediterranean Itineraries from Barcelona
The inaugural season of Norwegian Bella includes stops in key Mediterranean ports: Rome, Florence, and Salerno in Italy; Marseille in France; Palma de Mallorca and the homeport of Barcelona in Spain. These cruises are designed to give passengers access to major European destinations over the course of a
week.
Shipbuilding and Design Partnerships
Norwegian Bella and its sister vessel Norwegian Aura, set for delivery in May 2027 to operate in the Caribbean, are both constructed by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri. The ship’s interiors have been developed by AD Associates, Piero Lissoni, Rockwell Group, SMC Design, and Studio Dado. Norwegian Bella incorporates enhancements tailored to the European market while sharing hallmark features with Norwegian Aura.
Onboard Amenities and Accommodations
Norwegian Bella features the largest Prima-class pool deck, over 15% larger than similar decks on Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna. The ship includes the Ocean Boulevard promenade that wraps around deck eight, and the multi-level Ocean Heights outdoor complex
spanning decks 18 through 21. Water attractions include the Eclipse Racers water slides, The Drop dry slide descending 10 decks, a ropes course, a nine-hole mini golf course on deck 20, and a kids’ aqua park.
The vessel provides dedicated spaces for all ages: Little Explorers’ Cay for toddlers, Adventure Alley for children aged six to ten, and Surf’s Bay as a teen retreat. Adults have access to the Vibe Beach Club, an exclusive area with infinity hot tubs and a central oceanfront bar. Nearly 2,000 staterooms are available, including 159 suites within The Haven by Norwegian. The Haven features
private elevators, an infinity pool, hot tubs, an outdoor sauna and cold room, a private restaurant and bar, plus 24-hour butler and concierge services.
Official Statements and Design Philosophy
Marc Kazlauskas, president of Norwegian Cruise Line, described Norwegian Bella as “a milestone moment in our fleet as the culmination of our award-winning Prima Class.” He emphasized that the ship integrates innovations and guest feedback to offer sought-after experiences, including enhanced outdoor spaces and family-friendly attractions. Kazlauskas stated the vessel is designed to provide guests with freedom and flexibility to vacation without compromise.
Hull Artwork by Australian Artist George Rose
Australian contemporary artist George Rose created the hull artwork for Norwegian Bella. Her
design presents a vibrant botanical-themed mural incorporating color, organic forms, and a sense of movement. Rose said the project allowed her to capture the excitement of travel and hopes the artwork will become part of memorable guest journeys across Europe.
Booking Availability and Fleet Expansion
Reservations for Norwegian Bella cruises are open as of October 24, 2026. The vessel’s launch in May 2028 expands Norwegian Cruise Line’s footprint in Europe alongside Norwegian Aura’s deployment in the Caribbean. Norwegian Bella offers travelers access to the latest Prima-class amenities and varied accommodation types, including luxury suites within The Haven. The ship continues Norwegian Cruise Line’s tradition of
combining innovative design with comprehensive cruising experiences.
