Papua New Guinea was honored with the Best Booth award in the National Tourism Organisation category at the 2026 Travel Madness Expo held in Manila, Philippines, from July 10 to 12. More than 170 tourism organisations, airlines, hotels, resorts and travel agencies from the Philippines and other Asian countries participated in the event.
Papua New Guinea Exhibition Showcase and Partners
The Papua New Guinea booth was coordinated by the national airline Air Niugini and the Papua New Guinea Tourism Promotion Authority (PNGTPA). Tourism operators and hospitality partners supporting the exhibit included Kokopo Beach Bungalow, Karanas Tours, Dynasty Seafood Restaurant, Alibi Bar & Grill, Akura, Daikoku Japanese Restaurant,
Cuppa Cafe, Asia Aromas and PNG Coffee. The display highlighted the country’s culture, natural attractions, and diverse visitor experiences such as diving, birdwatching, trekking, cultural festivals, island escapes, coffee and traditional artifacts.
Official Statements on Award and Cooperation
Alan Milne, Chief Executive Officer of Air Niugini, said the award demonstrated the effectiveness of collaboration among the national airline, PNGTPA and tourism operators. “This recognition is a wonderful achievement for Papua New Guinea. It demonstrates what can be accomplished when the national airline, PNGTPA and our tourism operators work together to showcase our country as a vibrant, welcoming and authentic destination,” Milne stated. Joshua Koh, Air Niugini’s
Regional Manager Asia who coordinated the airline’s participation, described the award as an unexpected honor. “Winning the Best Booth Award was something we never expected, making this recognition even more special,” he said. Koh added the award belongs to all contributors including PNGTPA, tourism operators, hotel partners, and the Air Niugini team.
Upcoming Regional Promotion Plans
Following the Manila expo, Papua New Guinea plans to extend its tourism promotion at two major regional travel events: the NATAS Travel Fair in Singapore scheduled for August 21–23, 2026, and the Holiday and Travel Expo in Hong Kong from September 25–27, 2026. The continued presence at these
fairs aims to build on the momentum gained in Manila.
Significance of Travel Exhibitions in Asia-Pacific
The Travel Madness Expo in Manila stands as one of the largest consumer travel exhibitions in Asia and a key event in the Asia-Pacific travel industry calendar. It provides a platform for national tourism organisations and travel businesses to promote destinations, introduce travel packages, and forge industry partnerships. Papua New Guinea’s recognition at this event reflects its efforts to boost destination awareness and attract more international visitors through coordinated industry participation.
