Norwegian Cruise Line officially opened bookings on October 20, 2026, for Norwegian Bella, the sixth and final vessel in its Prima-class series. Norwegian Bella will enter service in May 2028, offering new Mediterranean itineraries that will expand NCL’s presence in European waters.
Norwegian Bella Dimensions and Itinerary
Measuring approximately 1,129 feet in length with a gross tonnage of 170,000, Norwegian Bella matches Norwegian Aura as the largest ship in the NCL fleet and can accommodate 3,921 guests at double occupancy. The ship will homeport at the Port of Barcelona and sail seven-night round-trip cruises calling at Civitavecchia (gateway to Rome), Livorno (gateway to Florence and
Pisa), Salerno (Amalfi Coast gateway), Marseille in France, and Palma de Mallorca in Spain before returning to Barcelona.
Expanded Outdoor Spaces and Guest Amenities
Norwegian Bella’s exterior features enhanced outdoor areas, including a pool deck that is at least 15% larger than those on sister ships Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna. The ship also offers Ocean Boulevard, a wrap-around promenade on Deck 8 that includes additional seating, hot tubs, and an outdoor bar. New multi-level outdoor spaces such as Ocean Heights, spanning decks 18 through 21, provide open-air areas that transform from daytime relaxation zones into vibrant social hubs with immersive lighting in the evening.
Luxury Accommodations and Design Collaborations
The
ship includes 159 suites within The Haven by Norwegian, a luxury ship-within-a-ship enclave featuring keycard access. Designed by Piero Lissoni, The Haven offers amenities such as private elevators, a sundeck with an infinity pool and hot tubs, a sauna, a private restaurant and bar, and 24-hour butler and concierge services. Interior designs of Norwegian Bella are collaborations between AD Associates, Piero Lissoni, Rockwell Group, SMC Design, and Studio DADO. Australian contemporary artist George Rose created the ship’s exterior hull artwork, featuring a vibrant and organic design inspired by travel and exploration.
Travel Logistics and Port Context
Norwegian Bella’s seven-night Mediterranean cruises from Barcelona will require
American travelers to arrange and budget separately for transatlantic flights to Barcelona El Prat Airport (BCN), as such airfare is not included in the cruise fare. The Port of Barcelona, the busiest cruise homeport in Europe with nearly 3.7 million passengers in 2024, has an overtourism management plan implemented since 2025. This plan includes eliminating two cruise terminals and reducing active cruise berths, which could impact berth availability for Norwegian Bella sailings in 2028.
Official Statement and Fleet Strategy
Marc Kazlauskas, president of Norwegian Cruise Line, described Norwegian Bella as “the culmination of our award-winning Prima Class,” noting that it reflects innovations and guest feedback
shaping the class since its launch. Norwegian Bella will sail in the Mediterranean, complementing Norwegian Aura, which will operate in the Caribbean. Both ships are built by Fincantieri at Italian yards where all six Prima-class ships were constructed. Norwegian Bella’s debut confirms the Prima-class fleet expansion begun with Norwegian Prima in 2022, with no new class planned beyond Norwegian Bella.
