Death Confirmed After Man Overboard from MS Ambition Near Arbroath

Body Found After Man Goes Overboard from Ambition off Scotland

A man fell overboard from the Ambassador Cruise Lines vessel MS Ambition about 36 nautical miles off the coast of Arbroath, Scotland. The incident was reported to authorities at 08:35 on Friday morning.

Search and rescue operations deployed multiple agencies, including Coastguard aircraft from Prestwick and Carlisle, a commercial helicopter, lifeboat crews from Anstruther and Broughty Ferry, and Coastguard teams based in Dundee, Arbroath, and St Andrews.

The man’s body was recovered later the same day following the extensive search. Police Scotland confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious and the man’s next of kin have been notified.

Ship’s Route and Timeline

The MS Ambition was on its return voyage to Dundee from a solar eclipse cruise that included stops in Iceland and the Faroe Islands when the man went overboard. The ship docked in Lerwick prior to returning to Dundee on Friday.

Following docking in Dundee, the MS Ambition departed shortly after 18:00 to continue sailing to Newcastle.
