Lemon Tree Hotels announced plans in August 2026 to expand its presence internationally by entering the UAE, Thailand, and Maldives markets. The Indian hotel group, which already operates in Nepal and Dubai, is focusing on growing its footprint in overseas destinations frequented by Indian travelers.
Expansion Focus on Indian Travelers and Loyalty Growth
The company’s international growth strategy targets locations within roughly three hours’ flying time from India, aligning with where Indian travelers frequently visit. Approximately 45% of Lemon Tree’s demand is driven by repeat guests, but only about half of these guests participate in the company’s loyalty program, which currently has around 2.5 million members. Lemon Tree
sees this as an opportunity to deepen engagement with its customer base abroad.
Official Statement on Strategic Approach
Patanjali Keswani, Executive Chairman of Lemon Tree Hotels, emphasized that Indian hotel companies can expand internationally by leveraging their domestic customer base. He advocates for following Indian travelers to their common overseas destinations, supporting the choice of expansion into the UAE, Thailand, and Maldives to serve this loyal clientele.
