InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has surpassed 1,000 operating properties across Europe as of October 22, 2026. The company added over 210 hotels in the past three years, achieving a net system size growth of more than 25% in the region. Additionally, IHG has over 280 hotels currently under development across Europe, reflecting its accelerated expansion.

IHG’s growth in Europe is driven by new hotel developments, conversion of existing properties, and strategic introduction of established brands to new markets. This approach has allowed IHG to penetrate both established cities and emergent travel destinations across the continent.

Since early 2024, IHG recorded

36 brand debuts across European countries, not counting the Ruby brand properties. The company also launched Noted Collection, its 21st hotel brand, which has secured seven global signings. The Ruby brand marked its entry into France with the opening of Ruby Lilou Hotel Marseille, while the Vignette Collection expanded its European footprint to 13 operating hotels, with 16 more under development.

Key recent property additions include The Hari hotel in London, part of the Vignette Collection, featuring 85 rooms in a prime Belgravia location near Knightsbridge and Hyde Park. Ruby Lilou Hotel Marseille is the Ruby brand’s first property in

France, positioned close to Marseille’s historic waterfront. Crowne Plaza Vienna, a 195-room hotel, enhances IHG’s premium portfolio in Austria’s capital.

New IHG developments span multiple European countries, including Iceland, Sweden, Greece, France, and locations such as London, Marseille, Vienna, and Madrid. This geographic expansion reflects IHG’s broad investment in different accommodation categories ranging from luxury and premium business hotels to lifestyle and more affordable branded offerings.

These expansions benefit travelers worldwide through IHG One Rewards, the company’s loyalty programme with over 160 million members globally. The growing hotel portfolio increases accommodation options available to members across Europe.

According to UN

Tourism data, Europe recorded approximately 793 million international arrivals in 2025, representing more than half of global international tourism. High demand for leisure travel, international city breaks, and business visits continues to fuel investment in European hotel development. Conversions of hotels provide IHG and its partners access to central urban locations where new construction is challenging.
