Holland America Line opened bookings on August 27, 2026, for its 2028 Alaska cruise season, continuing over 80 years of exploration in the region. The cruise line’s new season includes a range of itineraries designed to combine wildlife encounters and rich cultural experiences across Alaska’s landscapes.
The 2028 schedule offers voyages lasting from seven to 18 days aboard six ships: Oosterdam, Noordam, Eurodam, Koningsdam, Westerdam, and Zaandam. Routes include roundtrip sailings from Seattle and Vancouver, journeys between Vancouver and Whittier, and a newly introduced voyage from San Diego to Vancouver. A standout itinerary is the infrequent 11-day California to Alaska
Shores, Fjords & Glaciers voyage. Additionally, select Great Alaska Explorer and Great Bear Rainforest cruises will feature scenic cruising through Nootka Sound on Vancouver Island’s west coast for the first time in the line’s history.
Oosterdam’s Transformation Marks Fleet Evolution
The reimagined Oosterdam will debut Holland America Evolution, the company’s largest fleet investment in over 150 years. Oosterdam will also serve as the primary vessel for Alaska Cruisetours, linking cruise itineraries with overland explorations into Denali National Park and the Yukon. While details and availability for 2028 Cruisetours will be released later, bookings for 2027 remain open.
The ship’s upgrades include newly designed Solo Verandah
staterooms and expansive Bridgeview Suites that offer panoramic forward-facing views. The Grand Dutch Café, inspired by the cruise line’s heritage, returns as a guest favorite. Across the ship, staterooms and suites have been refreshed, guest spaces updated, and features inspired by the Pinnacle Class vessels incorporated.
Company Statements Emphasize Depth of Alaska Experiences
Paul Grigsby, vice president of revenue planning and deployment, said the 2028 season pairs traditional Alaska highlights with distinctive experiences, rare itineraries, and access to lesser-traveled waterways. According to Grigsby, “What has always set Holland America Line apart in Alaska is our ability to combine the iconic experiences guests dream about with opportunities to
see the destination in ways they haven’t before.” He added, “Alaska’s scenery is already unforgettable, and Oosterdam will give guests even more ways to experience it. From taking in the mountains and glaciers from a new Bridgeview Suite to pairing a cruise with an unforgettable journey into Denali and the Yukon, Oosterdam will offer guests new ways to connect with Alaska both on board and ashore.”

Guests reserving select 2028 Alaska cruises can access the Have It All Early Booking Bonus, which includes amenities such as shore excursion credit, specialty dining, an Elite Beverage Package, premium Wi-Fi, prepaid Crew Appreciation,
